DHI are the first people you should call when you have a tough challenge to solve in a water environment — be it a river, a reservoir, an ocean, a coastline, within a city or a factory.

Our knowledge of water environments is second-to-none. It represents 50 years of dedicated research, and real-life experience from more than 140 countries. We strive to make this knowledge globally accessible to clients and partners by channelling it through our local teams and unique software.

Our world is water. So whether you need to save water, share it fairly, improve its quality, quantify its impact or manage its flow, we can help. Our knowledge, combined with our team’s expertise and the power of our technology, holds the key to unlocking the right solution.

DHI AUstralia

DHI have been working in Australia since the early 1990’s and established an incorporated company in Australia in 2000, this being one of the first subsidiaries within the DHI Group.

Two offices were initially established in Sydney and on the Gold Coast to service a number of key clients in the water utilities and local government sectors. In 2007 we expanded into the oil, gas and mining sectors and opened offices in Perth and in Brisbane.

DHI Australia has an enviable reputation for delivering specialist engineering and environmental consulting services and software within the water industry in Australia. We contribute to water management in the mining and CSG sectors, support environmental impact assessments for offshore and inshore oil and gas facilities, resource-to-market developments like ports and undersea pipelines including dredging and reclamation works, and set industry standards in flood management and water resources assessments. The MIKE by DHI water modelling software is recognised as the industry standard for river flooding, coastal modelling and groundwater modelling. Australia is the DHI Group’s third largest software market globally. Every year we have hundreds of water professionals participate in our training and knowledge sharing activities through THE ACADEMY by DHI in Australia.

In 2010 DHI won a significant contract (CARM: Computer Aided River Management ) with State Water Corporation in New South Wales to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) that supports river operations in the Murrumbidgee River system. The river supplies major irrigation schemes as well as internationally important wetlands areas and the system will improve the effectiveness of operations to the benefit of both the environment and the local economies. The project has been recognised at a national level, collecting both the 2013 Engineers Australia Environmental Engineering Excellence Award and the 2013 Australian Water Association Award for Infrastructure Innovation.

The Australian water market is recognised globally for its thought leadership and strong governance within the water and environment space. The market is an early adopter and generator of water technologies making it important for DHI to remain at the global cutting edge of technology development. Our consolidated presence in Australia helps to ensure that the DHI can retain and expand our position at the high technology end of the water market - which is exactly where we want to be!
