DHI, as a sub-consultant to ACE, will be providing services to Salalah Sanitary Drainage Services Company (SSDC) in Salalah, Oman as part of the work package titled “Design, Supply, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Operation of Odour Control System for Salalah Wastewater System”

DHI’s MIKE URBAN software will be applied and will include a detailed description of the sewerage network including all lateral pipes to a diameter of 200 mm, include all grinder pumps with corresponding force main pipe size along with Main Pumping Stations and Area Pumping Stations.

Monitoring programs for calibration of hydrodynamic model and hydrogen sulfide model will be planned and undertaken. The formation of H2S will be modelled based on the WATS modelling concept. The WATS model is already today integrated into DHI’s MIKE URBAN software and WATS parameters will be set and calibrated using MIKE URBAN. The fact that the model data do not need to be exported to 3rd part software provides SSDC with a more integrated and efficient solution to operate and maintain in the future. Stochastic or sensitivity analysis will be carried out on the WATS input parameters. Presentation of simulated flow, water level, velocity and H2S results will be using standard MIKE presentation software.

The updated model will support decisions for an optimised operation of the network in terms of reducing the risk of corrosion and odour issues caused by the formation of H2S.
