Beach Restoration Project at Tanjung Aru in Borneo
We have joined a team of national and international consultants to develop a plan for restoration of Tanjung Aru Beach – the largest public beach in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
We have joined a team of national and international consultants to develop a plan for restoration of Tanjung Aru Beach – the largest public beach in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The beach and water quality at Tanjung Aru has steadily deteriorated in recent years. As such, the aim of the restoration is to make the beach a pleasant public recreational place once again.
DHI – with its profound local knowledge on coastal hydraulics and morphology, water quality and ecology – will work together with the team. As part of the team, we will be responsible for:
- coastal hydraulic modelling and engineering input for the master plan development
- detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the restoration
- hydraulic, water quality and ecological surveys for master plan development and EIA
- identification of possible offshore locations for sourcing of suitable beach material
- EIA for offshore sand sourcing
