World Wetlands Day: How are wetlands buffers against disasters?

World Wetlands Day is held annually on 2 February to mark the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on this day on 1971 and to raise awareness about the important values and benefits of wetlands.

The theme for World Wetlands Day 2017 is 'Wetlands for disaster risk reduction'. Read more on www.worldwetlandsday.org as well as this post on the Okavango Delta by the European Space Agency.

This year's theme is also being reflected in a new leaflet published by GlobWetland Africa. How are wetlands buffers against disasters? You'd be surprised by what you will learn!
